Initial situation

The maintenance and constant upkeep of the campus app, which was developed in-house in 2011, became too extensive and no longer viable for cost reasons.

The solution

After the first contact in January 2019, special adaptations and requests were discussed without further ado, so that the app was already published in April 2019.

Special adaptations

Among other things, a campus map, a lecture hall list, role selection and RSS news sync were adapted and implemented for the University of Hohenheim.

All features of the university at a glance

Grades: In the grades module all grades are displayed in a clear format and in statistics. It is also possible to add grades manually.
Mail: With the mail function, students receive and compose all university mails. No complicated setup is necessary, as the various configuration options are already stored in the app.
Cafeteria: The Mensa feature allows students to access the current dining plans and hours of operation for the Mensa.
Library: The library module provides students with an overview of the books borrowed and the end of the loan period.
Calendar: The schedule can be easily imported into the calendar, so that no lecture or other important appointment is forgotten.
To-Dos: The to-do list function gives an overview of all the tasks that still need to be done and helps to check off completed activities

The listing of all the university's facilities, including their locations, makes it easier to find your way around the campus. With the link to Google Maps or Apple Maps, users can be navigated to the respective location.

Tours

Whether campus tour, historical tour or important places in the city - with the tour function, users can easily explore the campus or the city.

Lecture halls

The listing of all lecture halls at the university, including location information, facilitates orientation on campus. With the link to Google Maps or Apple Maps, users can be navigated to the respective lecture hall.
